Beijing has a reputation for pollution, and although unfortunately there are more cloudy days than clear, when a blue sky does come along it is absolutely dazzling. Here is a collection of some of my favourite smog-free shots:
Crowds milling in Tiananmen Square (Tiān’ānmén guǎngchǎng, 天安门广场) with a view of the Forbidden City.
The view from a dusty hotel window in Sanlitun (三里屯) in the heart of Beijing’s CBD.
The towering walls of the White River Gorge in Miyun, a fantastic camping spot.
A restored pagoda in the Old Summer Palace
Hands reaching for a kite on the Great Wall, Badaling section (Bādálǐng chángchéng，八达岭长城)
Pagodas of the Silver Mountain Pagoda Forest.
